Manga Resources

Manga is the Japanese word for “comics.” The term was originally coined during the 1800s by the Japanese artist Hokusai referring to doodles in his sketchbook.

Manga is not one particular style or genre. It covers all Japanese comics, including stories for men and women, children, and adults. In Japan, manga is serialized in magazines. If they become popular they are then released in paperback or tankobon format.
